Smoking...
Have any of you quit smoking? If so how did you do it? How long were you a smoker before you quit and how long has it been since you quit?
Unfortunately I have been a smoker since I was 16 and I want to quit so badly but haven't been able to. Don't judge please :(

I started smoking at 15-16years I quit smoking during my pregnancy cold turkey. then about 2 months after I had my daughter I was back on the smoking train. I'm now 21 and I'm trying to quit so that I can have another baby with my husband and I know I can't quit cold turkey again...So I talked to friends and family who I know have had the same problem and I came up with this plan thats working for me!
Start smoking a lighter cigarette, from a different brand. One you don't much care for. exercise more often, or do something to keep yourself moving or entertained. BOREDOM=SMOKING. I've been using camel snus dip to give me a little fix and cut out smoking. I get less nicatine this way and it's made quitting ALOT EASIER!

No judgments here either
I started smoking at age 15 (I'm surprised to see a couple of 13's out there!). Im now 21 and have been clean of cigarettes for just over 3months. I feel kinda bad though because I didnt stop smoking througout my pregnancy with Autumn. She is a happy, healthy baby, but I realise now the sort of damage I could hace been doing to her. When the doctor told me things like they put bleach in cigarettes and things, I immediately quit cold turkey and have NEVER touched a cigarette. Me and my husband both quit together and supported each other so that was great. I feel soooo much better now that I have and will defintely never touch another cigarett EVER again!
Good luck, Im sure you have loads of support and keep perservering!

I began smoking when I was 13. Yeah yeah I know... it was the cool thing to do. I smoked a pack a day for 17 years (wow it's still shocking to see that written in years) with the exception of my 3 pregnancies. I quit during my 1st pregnancy at the age of 21 and started back up immediately after I had my daughter (I wasn't ready to quit yet). I quit during my second pregnancy at the age of 27 and had full intentions to stay a non-smoker but went running back to the cigarettes when my father died just 6 months later. I quit again with my 3rd pregnancy at the age of 30 and was determined to stay a non-smoker forever no matter what life threw my way! I am now going on 2 years of being smoker free and I love it! I feel great! I can now run up my stairs without feeling winded which was difficult to even walk up steps before without breathing heavy at the top! I can be around smokers now and it doesn't bother me one bit! I also drink coffee and the occasional cocktail and still feel no desire to light up. It takes an immense amount of will power to get yourself through to that point though! I know if you are truly ready to quit but feel that it would be too difficult for you, that you can speak to your doctor about it and they can lead you in the right direction. I wish you all the luck in the world! I know just how difficult that it can be!

I am excited for you. Good luck on Wednesday!
A friend would post updates on FB about herself and the benefits while she quit smoking so I just googled and found this. I thought it was really cool.

I haven't smoked, but I wish you well in quitting. However, my father and one of my friends were smokers and they too tried Chantix. It can definately help, but please make sure you are under a doctors care and family and friends know you are taking it. One of the possible side effects is suicidual ideations (you start thinking about suicide and you hadn't before) My father had MAJOR mood and anger issues on the pill. We took him off after a few weeks when we realized it was affecting his mood. My friend stopped after a few weeks also. however the few weeks my father was on it was enough and he did quit. I won't say don't take Chantix, just make sure you are under a doctors care and people are aware. I have heard that it worked very well for others and they had NO side effects. Good Luck! I hope you find a method that works for you.

I smoked for 4 yrs (15-19) Until I found out I was pregnant.. So after I found out I quit cold turkey. It was the best motivation for me. I wanted to start up again after I had my daughter, because of stress, but I just kept telling myself I had to do it for her, so it'll be 2 years this August :)
My brother in law used a pill like Chantix, which the doctor prescribed to him, so my best advice for you would to be consult with your doctor and see what they suggest to you :)
Also, there is this book that helped him alot, I dont know what its called, but it just hit him like a ton of bricks when he read this book, so look into different books as well :)
I do know from that book that he said that if you replace smoking with eating candies or something like that, it wont help much, I guess youre not supposed to do that
Good luck, you can do it!!!!!!! :)

I smoked for less than a year a was like a pack a week at the most so when i got pregnant I was able to quit cold turkey no problem. It was harder for my husband but he didnt think was fair to me to continue smoking so he quit cold too. He just finished his pack and then didn't buy anymore and if he I did and I found them I would break them.

No judgement here!
I smoked for 7 years and quitting was hard! I could not imagine having to do it when I had kids but it is awesome that you want to do it.
For me I did it cold turkey but it was like my 7th attempt.
My MIL's brother smoked for over 50 years and used Chantix and it worked for him
Good luck!

I also started at 16, and didn't quit for good until a few months ago. I stopped during each pregnancy, but I kid you not, the moment they were out I was itching for a pack of Camel crush. Anyways, I posted on Facebook that I wanted to quit smoking and that I wanted all of the positive support that I could get. My friends and family held me accountable and encouraged me, which was wonderful. There are also all kinds of supportive message boards online to help keep you motivated. The patch and the gum worked for me, I slowly weaned off of them a little at a time.
Good luck and stay positive! You're stronger than your addiction!

I started smoking when I was 18, and quit 2 weeks before I found out I was pregnant (I'm 22 now) - I probably would have started again if I wasn't pregnant..so that helped! I was breastfeeding my son for 3 months so I didn't pick it back up again. Although I DID have 2 cigarettes while at a friend's house the other day. I didn't tell my Fiance because he doesn't want me to pick it up again..and I really don't plan on smoking again..but I just don't know :( I know it's awful for you and I've come so far but there's still that little part of me that craves them every now and then. I'm going to do my best to stay away for myself, my fiance but mostly for my baby! Good luck

No Judgement.
Both my parents smoked when I was younger and though I've only had probably a pack of cigarettes at most through out my life. (I use it as stress relief). I am "addicted" to second hand smoke I love the smell of it I feel in soothing.
My mom finally quit and used nicotine gum. That didn't work for my dad. He's also tried the electronic cigarette which he didn't find very helpful.
So I don't know what to tell you. I know one person that everytime he wanted a cigarette he ate jelly beans. It got him off of cigarettes and eventually he just got tired of jelly beans lol
Good Luck.

No judgment (and no experience to share) but just wanted to say good luck! I've had friends go through it and seen how tough it can be; hope you find something that works for you!

No judgements here! I've been an off and on smoker since I was 16 as well. I want to go back in time and throttle myself for ever starting! I'm currently at about half a pack a day and hate myself for it. But like gaamy, I just like it so much. :/
Quitting completely is tough, especially when you don't have something like pregnancy or whatever staring you in the face. You have to find what works best for you. For me, I need constant distraction and something to do with my hands. I'm a fidgety person and find something as simple as a rubber band in my hands to play with helps. And lots of hard candy and gum!
