How do you meal plan?
Usually we just rotate meals, have an average of one meal out a week and throw in a new recipe a couple times a month. I make my meal list and grocery list up on Sundays and go get my groceries on Sundays. What's your routine for this?

I buy in bulk and do my main shopping every two weeks. I'll make a list of what recipes I want to use (usually trying a new one every two weeks). Then I'll compile the list of what we need, what we have, and what we want (snacks, drinks, quick and easy back-up meals). I do my grocery shopping and go to the Farmer's Market on Monday mornings after dropping the older boys off at church for homeschool league sports that way I only have two kids to bring with me.

I use the monthly menu planners (printables) from www.moneysavingmom.com. I check www.southernsavers.com for that week's deals at my favorite grocery store and create my meal plan for the week based on what's on sale plus what we have around the house.

We use the six o'clock scramble program for meal planning and LOVE IT! There are tips for how the kids can help prepare dinner, and it has a variety of vegetarian dishes (less expensive) and in-season produce. My kids often help prepare the meal....and have suprised me by trying a variety of foods I didn't think they'd try. www.thescramble.com

That's so funny! That's exactly how it is at my house with daughter and hubby.

Thankfully my SO is the meal planner/grocery shopper/food preparer. He puts together a weekly meal plan and shopping list once a week and is really good at sticking with it. I am overwhelmed by just the though, haha. We've been work toward a plant based diet with no animal products and I could not focus well enough to put that together and he's been awesome with it.

we generally make the same things every week - due to our budget, we can only go grocery shopping twice a month - my husband is very picky, and generally will only eat a handful of foods - this makes meal planning easy and grocery shopping easy.
if we want something other a meat, potato, and corn - we just pick it up as we need it - especially anything that involves fresh veg.
i usually don't think of something for dinner until that day - usually i defrost chicken breast, and think of what i am going to do with it -
