Featured: Things you splurge on
Well, I'm only pregnant right now, but I'm trying to start saving up my money. I know that once you have kids, mommies don't really get to treat themselves as often. So, what is something that you splurge on, or if you didn't, you wish you did?
Mine is definitely getting my nails done. I love it so much, and I did it today and felt so guilty after. =/ I'm gonna have to cut down on the salon trips now that baby's on it's way.

My splurges are my lunch! I will go have chinese or Noodles and Company every now and then! I used to be sooo hooked on Dr. Pepper, but I haven't had one in 3 months! I usually now only have one 12 oz can of pepsi a day, but trying to even cut that out! Never realized the headaches you can get when you deprive yourself of them! Never thought I would get addicted to something that badly! Ha ha!

A mountain dew fountain drink like every other day.
I have a serious fountain pop addiction. I probably get one just as often, but at least it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a trip to Starbucks!
I did actually knock my fountain pop addiction. The iced coffee drink is one I am trying to get a grip on right now. When I went on vacation I got hooked on them and I am trying to wean...just for the calories alone. I knocked pop by going strictly to Honesttea honey Green Tea iced tea.
I seriously need to kick my Mountain Dew addiction, period. It's getting to and outrageous level! lol I once went a year without it-I never should have taken that first drink because now I'm hooked again.
This was me a month ago... Yesterday was my first day of not drinking pop. I have such terrible headaches! I went from drinking 22oz a day to nothing ACK!!!

I would have to say shoes but I don't even splurge that much on them....I wish i could get my nails done all of them time....I tend to have nice nails if I can keep up with them but I don't have time to keep up with them.

Dinners out! :) I cook a lot, and going out a few times a month is a necessity for my sanity!
For just me, I splurge on books.

Coffee drinks. :) And the occasional pedicure.
Ahhhhh! A girl after my own heart!
I also forgot to mention that I do tend to spluge on music, too. We go to concerts and shows as often as we can manage (its nice that the kids are older now and the older one can watch the younger one while we go) and I am a record collector. Thankfully, old records aren't that expensive...so again...it is more about the hunt!

Most people wouldn't consider this a "splurge" but I love thrifting. I go thrifting when I want to get out of the house, and I particularly shop for vintage clothes, and vintage items to put in my house and vintage kitchen. Mostly period appropriate stuff to the 1910's through the 1930's because our house was built in the 20's. Its super hard to find stuff, but I still do occasionally and then I splurge on it.
I also splurge on my iced coffee. More than I should. Sometimes I find myself expending more gas than I should to drive for no other reason than to get myself a Peets coffee iced vanilla latte.

Craft stuff! It is my total stress relief and makes me feel like a person, not just a mom

Hmm. we spurge on trips, we take at least one a year. We usually go to Yellowstone or Glacier park. Some times we go to Grand Teton. We live in the most beautiful state in the country (not biased at all LOL) so while the kids are young we are not too worried about taking huge trips yet. My husband and I take a trip for our anniversary each year, except our 1st because our Daughter was born 5 days before our anniversary. At any rate the trips only cost about $500 but we have 2 kids under 2 so you know how it goes.

I splurge on food ingredients and kitchen stuff. I also have a nice mountain bike from years ago. I will be replacing it soon and it will be a big splurge. The family splurges on recreation stuff. Travel and experiences are very important to us.
I am not all that girlie, nails and hair just need to be reasonably well groomed for me so no big expense there.

I am a beginning mountaineer and let me tell you that mountain climbing is NOT a cheap sport to get into! I'm talking $400 for a proper pair of boots, $100 for a rope, jackets, gloves, waterproof pants, ice axe, etc. I needed a hobby so bad though and mountain climbing makes me feel alive so it's worth the money to me.

Other mums so may not agree with me on this, but I do splurge on myself quite a bit with clothes, getting my hair done, nails done, dinner dates, the house I want, ect. My boys have everything they need and loads of other things and so does Jack's daughter. They are definitely spoilt, so if they are I so think (as long as money allows) us as parents should be allowed to spoil ourselves too! My kids come first, but I always grew up with my mum going "if I wasn't a single mum of 6 I'd have this or that" and I always felt terribly bad for her. Although we are currently looking at buying a house we have to completely fix up, so I think Jack and I spoiling ourselves may be going out the window sometime soon... :/
