Vacation with family....or not?
So do you prefer to travel with your extended family or do you prefer to just have your own family there?

Both.... The majority of our actual vacations are with extended family because my in-laws pay. We often get vacations for Christmas / Birthday presents. It is nice to have someone there to help with the kids but at the same point I don't feel like I have as much of a say because we pay for a small fraction of the trip
Wow vacations and trips as presents....will your inlaws adopt me? Just teasing....that is great!!!

While the thought of it is nice in theory, I prefer to travel with just my husband and kids. I like to have the freedom to do what I want, when I want.
Agreed. Right now, there is a week long trip planned to go to Clearwater Beach and hang out, but my MIL and I are on the outs, and the thought of spending an entire week with her is going to be too much for me. I wish that it was just us as a family, without the inlaws. The other problem becomes them making daily plans for us without thinking that maybe we need a break or want to do our own thing... without them tagging along! It's gonna suck, I know it! I'll keep you all posted.
I hope that it doesn't but keep us posted...hopefully you can have a conversation and let her know that you would like to do somethings with just you and your family too.

It really depends. We don't get to see our families very often since they are all super scattered and 600-1200 miles away so I'd love to vacation with them. Renting a house on the beach with one or two of the other families would be perfect. :) We did that once and would love to do it again!

Definitely with extended family (if it's my siblings!). Jack and I try to take 4-5 holidays a year. 1 will be just us and the others with be with the kids and as many as my siblings that can come. Most the time it's all 5 of them and Mum. This is bad to say, but I really prefer to go holiday with just the siblings, no partner and no children! :)

I've done it both ways and enjoyed both. I'd rather vacation with my extended family because there's more people to socialize with.

I mostly prefer it to just be our little family. Traveling with others is a PITA, in my experience.

i like to go visit family. i don't like to travel with others b/c my daughter and i do not travel (in a car) well. we have to make frequent stops and do not eat in the car unless we REALLY need to make time. the hubs is also very adament about the speed limit. we like to take our time.

I honestly really enjoy vacationing with extended family. We took a trip to Acapulco, Mexico with my SO's mother, sister, and brother and had so much fun. It's nice to have others along to watch the kids when you want some alone time, too.
