gay boys kissing
I am disgusted with nickelodeon, or I suppose it is Teen Nick. My son, who is only 8 years old, loves to watch Victorious, Big Time Rush, etc. While he is doing that, he has to see advertisements for what I hope is a prime time show, where two boys are kissing!!! I believe being gay or lesbian is wrong. But no matter what I think, kids that young should not have to see this kind of example being displayed all the time! I have seen this advertisement for weeks now! This is ridiculous. What has Nickelodeon resorted to???

I'm sorry, I completely disagree with you. It is not wrong, it is how they were born. And if we as heterosexuals are allowed to kiss each other in public, why can't others. Honestly, I feel you anti-gay people are very close minded to people that are different. What is MORE ridiculous than 2 boys innocently kissing is when straight people are making out in public, doing way more than anyone would want to see. I would MUCH rather my daughter see two men kissing in a nice way than a man and woman groping each other. I teach my daughter that there is nothing wrong with being gay. I don't want her growing up to be judgmental of others because of the gender they love. Also, if this is TEEN nick, this is a normal issue to come up during these years. That is when most people realize their sexuality. BTW, my daughter is 4 and when we see same sex couples holding hands, I let her know that's ok. I don't care if people don't agree with me. This is 2013, not 1813. Our children are going to see way more out in public. My suggestion is to not condemn everything that is different to you. You're teaching your son to be close minded and he is going to wind up hating people because they are different than him. Not right

Religious or not, I know people who think gays engaging in modest public displays of affection are gross. I don't mind kissing and holding hands, I think its cute but I have an issue with having to watch anyone have a full on makeout session in public but being that its on teen nick, my guess it was a possibly elongated kiss for the sake of romance on a teen show. No big deal. I don't have a problem with homosexual romance though and a majority of folks in the US don't have an issue with it either.
If YOU have a problem with homosexuality tell your son that and tell him why and know that with all the good and the bad in the world, you will be having the conversation with your kid again when you find him exposed to another messy aspect of life in general, teen drinking, drug use, lying stealing, whatever it maybe. Take this as an opertunity to speak to your son about your moral principals and making good choices and don't get your panties in a bunch.
Reading this after the fact I seem to have issues with homosexuals, that's not really the case, I was thinking of when on our way into a mall in Denver my daughter and I had to walk past a line of groping, dry-humping and kissing teenagers. They were all heterosexual.
On the other hand, no number of people online telling you to get over your issues with homosexuality is going to make that happen, so I was saving my breath on that point, but it looks more like I was putting homosexuality on par with drinking, drug use, stealing and the like. In truth I was inserting behaviors I take moral issue with. People loving people, regardless of genetalia isn't a moral problem in my world. I hope that some time in the future you have the chance to meet an amazing homosexual and learn to respect and admire that person for who they are as an actual person before you come to learn their sexual preference. And I hope that experience changes your opion of homosexuals as people even if it doesnt change your moral standpoint on the subject.

This.
Also, I have no idea what ad you're seeing. My older nephews and nieces have that channel on all the time and I have never seen anything even close to that.
if they are seeing a commercial for the show Degrassi then it is VERY likely they did in fact see two boys kissing.

There are just so many things wrong with this... none of it has to do with Nickelodeon.

For starters, you are letting your child watch a show for teenagers.. Do you really have right to complain your child shouldn't be exposed to boys kissing on a teen network when the targeted audience isn't children your child's age but instead kids 12/13 and above. And 2, there are gays and lesbians out in this world, don't be so prude. Instead of teaching it's wrong, why not teach acceptance to it whether you agree with it or not?

it's your fault for letting an 8 yo watch a channel called teen nick.

I happen to think it's a good thing. It's exposing them to reality- kids shouldn't expect everyone to be straight, because not everyone is. Would you be up in arms if it were a boy and a girl kissing? I doubt it. People kiss all the time. Why is it any different when it's two men or two women?
If you don't like it, have them watch the programs On Demand or on the computer.
Also, I say this to you as a highly religious mother of a bisexual teen.
