What to Expect from a Court-Appointed Divorce Mediator
What can I expect at our visit to a court-appointed mediator handling our divorce?
The mediator will not take sides. He or she will invite you and your soon-to-be-ex to consider options that have positive aspects for both of you. She will invite both of you to focus on things each of you believe are in the best interest of the children. If things get too contentious, the two of you may need to be in different rooms while the mediator shuttles back and forth to facilitate a cooperative resolution.
