No matter what time my kids and I wake up in the morning, we always seem to be rushing to get out the door to get to school on time. How can we streamline our morning routine?
You know that old Army ad that said, "We do more by 7 a.m. than most people do all day?" Well, whoever wrote that must have forgotten about moms. Our morning checklists seem endless and it's easy to get tripped up. But there are some easy ways to get organized that will help you get out the door on time:

Our morning checklists seem endless and it's easy to get tripped up. But there are some easy ways to get organized that will help you get out the door on time:
- Lay out your clothes the night before. This will keep you from wasting time standing at the closet trying to make a decision (before you've had your morning coffee—it's tough!). You'll also be in a better frame of mind to make sure all the necessary ironing is done and the right accessories are selected. Consider laying out the kids' clothes, too.

Get organized by posting a "Remember to Take" checklist by your front door—maybe inside the coat closet. Review it before leaving the house, so you know you've got everything everyone needs for school and work: e.g., "Remember to take your wallet, keys, planner, checkbook, umbrella, kids' backpacks, homework, ballet shoes, soccer equipment, cell phone, and charger." Create a game with your kids: Before you walk out the door, have everyone line-up for a verbal check. "Homework?" "Check!" "Soccer stuff?" "Check!"

Create an "Errand Center" by the door. Drop clothes for the dry cleaner, packages for the post office, books for the library, items to return to friends, and other stuff there, to prevent frantic searches when you're about to head out the door. This get-organized tip can make your morning routine much simpler.
