Freshen Smelly Shoes

Is that dead-animal smell coming from your kid's sneakers? Fill a couple of old socks with a mixture of kitty litter and baking soda and knot at the top. Drop them into the offending footwear each night in lieu of a call to the local hazardous-waste-removal team.
