Our featured member is AlienFroggy, whose real name is Skye. She's a 22-year-old mama-to-be who's expecting her first child, Will, in June! She currently lives in Washington State with her husband and two dogs, but the whole AlienFroggy gang will be moving to Texas in June or July (or as soon as she recovers from, you know, that whole childbirth and new-baby thing). Other than loving to relax on her bed with her dog, Bell, here are nine more things you didn't know about AlienFroggy:
And the Top 10 questions for this week are ... (drum roll please ...)
What's the story behind your screen name? I bought an Alienware computer while I was in the Army (the alien part), and the user icon was a frog when I first turned on the computer. I used it because it was unique, and I didn't have to add a bunch of numbers to the end of it to make it work. I hate to have to do that.
What were you like as a kid? I'm told I was quiet till I discovered temper tantrums when I was 6 months old. I was really shy until I was about 7. My dad would call me "Velcro" because I would stay with him wherever he went, and you couldn't convince me to wander away, even at family get-togethers. I loved animals and was involved in 4H (dog showing, specifically), and played sports—mostly soccer, baseball and basketball. I was also into judo, and I was in a chess club from the time I was 10 until I was 16.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? I'd move somewhere with a lot of space where I could open a large-breed dog rescue.
Who was the first person you told you were pregnant and how did you break the big news? The first person I told was my friend, Amanda. We've known each other since we were 3, and her daughter turned 1 at the beginning of Feb. I called and said, "So, what did you do when you found out you were pregnant?" I was still a little shocked from the news ... I'd found out maybe five minutes before.
What do you love most about being pregnant? What do you detest? Well, this is the first time, and it isn't over for three more months, but I love feeling him move around and kick. I hate that I'm incredibly spacey—constantly misspelling, forgetting or mishearing things. I'm not usually like that at all!
What's in your purse? Dump it out and tell us everything. There's two pens (one always runs out of ink right when you need it), tip money from work last week, some paper, an extra hair band, a headset for my cell phone, and the case for my cell phone. I've got my wallet, checkbook, a camera, my Nintedo DS and some games for it, and an iPod. There's my keys and a key ring with a little fin (like for scuba or snorkeling) on it. I have knitting needles, some yarn and half a scarf. (I know, just in time for summer, but it kills time.) A brush, some Kleenex and a paystub. Tylenol, Tums, Sea-Bands, and ChapStick. Wow, that's a lot of stuff. ... My purse really isn't that big.
What's your favorite place to be in your home? Why? Right now, my favorite place to be is sitting on my bed, with Bell, one of my dogs, curled up next to me. It's very comfy.
If you could invite one famous person to dinner, who would it be and why? I'd probably invite President Obama. I didn't really want him to win the election, but I'm interested in hearing what he'd have to say.
What do you think you'll be doing in five years? I'll be getting Will ready for kindergarten, and hopefully finishing a BS in either psychology or marine biology.
If a genie popped out of a soda bottle right now, what would you ask for? Hmmm ... tough. Probably for the rest of my pregnancy, and Will's life, to be happy and healthy for him.
