Fashion for Moms: Choosing the Right Body Slimmer

Emme's Fashion & Style Tips

In my opinion, all women, no matter what size or shape, can benefit from a body slimmer. But first note: Wearing a body slimmer is not a replacement for getting out and moving that glorious body to keep all the body parts God created strong and tone! Now with that said, there's nothing wrong with creating a smoother, seamless image (especially when you have that hot outfit or special occasion)!

My personal favorites are the body suit and thigh-high slimmers (worn without undies). You can wear them with pants, dresses and long skirts. And body suits help lessen the bra bulge (which hopefully, will be minimal when you've chosen the right size bra.

Here are some other things to check in a body slimmer:

  1. Check the size. Never buy your slimmer a size too small. It'll have just the opposite effect, creating bulges where the slimmer ends. Plus, we moms need to feel comfortable.!
  2. Check the fabric: It should feel soft and moisture-wicking (so sweat doesn't absorb into the fabric and lay on your skin); lycra/ polyester microfiber, and tagless.
  3. Check the brand: A few great ones I can recommend: Spanx has various styles (even for pregnant mamas, which are great!), Nancy Ganz Body Slimmers, Miraclesuit Wonderful Edge Waistline Thigh Slimmer Panty.
  4. Check the style. If you're not a fan of the one-piece, most brands offer a biker short version. But that's when you really need to be careful about sizing here. If the waistband rolls over, it's only going to create another roll (and what post-baby tummy wants that?)
