Childhood Obesity: Raising Healthy Children
My partner and I both have weight issues. How can we raise our child to transcend our fat genes?
Even people who have a genetic tendency to be overweight can avoid excessive weight gain and childhood obesity with good nutrition and exercise. Start with breastfeeding and then introduce solid foods when your baby is developmentally ready: around 4 to 6 months.
Learn to recognize your child's hunger signs, and don't use food as a pacifier. During your baby's childhood enjoy family meals together, and do your best to be a good role model. Look at parenthood as the ultimate motivation to get in shape!
