Life Balance for New Parents
I'm overwhelmed with the responsibilities of new parenting! How can I cope?
First of all, remember that your baby will be this little for only a short while. In a matter of months, you and your baby will develop a pattern that allows you to resume some of your old activities. You'll get to know her cries and whimpers, when she is most likely to sleep for more than 20 minutes at a stretch, and how to take care of yourself better.
In the meantime, accept that life has changed! Lower your expectations of yourself, rest whenever you can, ask for help when you need it and accept help when it is offered. You are not a bad mom or an incompetent person: You are new at motherhood and, just as in any new job, you need time to learn how to be more efficient. It will happen!
