Missing that Baby Bump?
Submitted by Angela_PC
What's the community buzz? Our community manager, Angela, shares some collective thoughts about not being pregnant anymore.
Are your memories of your pregnancy warm and fuzzy or just plain fuzzy? Of course, there are the big moments of firsts: the first time you saw your baby on an ultrasound, the first time you felt those fluttery movements inside you (Was that gas?), your baby's first karate-chop kick. On the flip side, there's the first time you realize that morning sickness isn't just for breakfast anymore, that stretch marks can make your belly look like a 3-D Google map, that you had always taken tummy-sleeping for granted, or that you could suddenly rival any teenage boy in the belching department. Then there are the weight gain worries, plus the pregnancy complications that can arise during those 40 weeks ... and do we even need to get into the labor and delivery department? Let's just chalk it up to selective amnesia. Because otherwise, even after enduring our not-so-perfect pregnancies, why would we keep having babies, right?
The ParentsConnect community has been having a fabulous discussion on the very topic of missing your baby bump. Some members feel a little cheated because they went into labor early and didn't get to enjoy—if that's the right word—those last few weeks on their pregnancy calendar and some of these new mamas are just missing those pregnancy sensations even as they snuggle their precious bundles of joy.
Here are some of our favorites:
Mandi2181 went into labor one day before she was scheduled to have professional maternity photos taken—bummer!
LoveESky,
who has an 18-month-old, just started missing her pregnancy ... and is now starting to have a little bit of "baby fever." Uh-oh ...
Nikkiplus3
loved everything about being pregnant, especially her big ol' pregnant tummy!
missheatherjoy
thinks everyone's a bit crazy—she didn't love anything about being pregnant, big and round!
