Faintness and Dizziness During Pregnancy

Fainting and dizziness during pregnancy can be a stressful symptom, but there are some simple ways to help prevent you from getting "the vapors!"

  • Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids, which is good for you whether you're fainting or not!
  • Stand up slowly. Take a time out from rushing around...at least when it comes to standing up from your chair, your bed or the couch. The blood pressure change as you rise can make you feel faint.
  • Eat snacks! Yes, you have another reason to be sure you're getting enough healthy foods during your pregnancy. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can contribute to faintness during pregnancy, so prevent it by eating something at least every two hours.
