Hot Tubs, Saunas & Steam Rooms Safety During Pregnancy
Are hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms okay during pregnancy?
As tempting as it may be to slip into a teeny-weeny bikini and take a dip in the hot tub to soothe your aching pregnancy bones, the bad news is hot tubs should be off-limits to you throughout your pregnancy.
Pregnant women should avoid any activity that raises the body's core temperature over 102 degrees F, as it can be dangerous to the developing baby. It's even more dangerous if that temperature increase occurs during the first trimester when the most development occurs. Which means avoiding not just the hot tub, but also saunas or steam rooms.
Really need to unwind in some warm water? Take a bath in a warm (not hot) bathtub, instead.
