Pregnancy Complications: Unexpected twins

Submitted by ANJOLI2020
The story starts out like this...me and my fiance have a child together. When our daughter was one and a half we decided it was time to try for another one. I really missed holding and caring for a little tiny baby. I wanted my children to be close in age. So we tried; it was not going well and so we kept trying, and two days before Mothers Day I took a pregnancy test and FINALLY it was a YES! The weeks went by. I started getting morning sickness, but it was nothing like being sick with my first baby. When I was two months I just couldn't take it no more. I wasn't able to hold nothing not even crackers and water; it all came up. So I felt bad because the "baby" wasn't getting anything to eat. I wasn't sure if my "baby" was alive, so me and my fiance went to the emergency room. I told the nurses what was going on (they) said it was normal every pregnancy is different. The nurses gave me medicine so I could feel less nauseous and some liquid to hydrate me. A couple hours later we went down to ultra sound. The nurse technician had to do two types of ultra sound to make sure to see if she was seeing right. Finally she said, "Sweety I know why you are so sick. You are having twins." Then she said there is one sac there and another there. Me and my fiance looked at each other in surprise. Complication! Twins do run in my family on my mother's side and father's side, but I wasn't thinking when I got pregnant I could have twins. We had a lot of ups and downs during the pregnancy, a lot of complications beginning with me bleeding at 5 months and then at six months one of the babies having a spot in her brain and on her heart. The doctors took another ultra sound and blood tests and everything looked good. The day before our girls were born we had two appointments first was to see if i was dilated, the other an ultra sound. The ultra sound did not go very well, the doctors were concerned once more about one of the babies hearts. They weren't sure to deliver early or not. So we were set an appointment to see a cardiologist that coming Tuesday to see how bad it was. Well the next morning my water broke. I didn't go in right away; I waited until three then went in. My doctor came to where I was right away. She told me due to one of the babies having a problem in her heart she didn't want to put any stress on her by pushing her out. I had an immediate c-section that same day December 17, 2009. Our first daughter was born at 5:06 and they brought her to me to see and kiss. Then at 5:07 our next daughter was born, it took a minute for her to cry and finally I heard her. Tears filled my eyes; I was relieved to have both my girls out, it was a long pregnancy even though they were born at 35 weeks. I did not get to see my second daughter she was rushed to Nicu for testing, but hearing them both cry was a relief. Now my girls are 7 months and doing great. I can't believe how fast they grew. It seems to take forever for a child or children to be born and when they are out they grow quick.
