Pregnancy Weight Gain: I'm Pregnant: NOT FAT!
Submitted by MissSelah
So I am 11 weeks pregnant. Yay me! It's wonderful; my fiance is helping me out and my family is giving me TLC...but there are a few things I could most definitely do with out!
Namely, every time someone hears I'm pregnant, they comment on how they can see the baby, even though I am *NOT* showing yet. I told one of my oldest "friends" (although with her, the term is relative) that I was six weeks pregnant. She was like, "Wow! I noticed you gained a lot of weight recently, but I didn't want to say anything!" I had actually lost ten pounds and dropped a pants size in the previous weeks! I mean, I weigh 180lb! I am a size 9 pants and a size 3 shirt. It's not like I'm big! I just have surprisingly heavy hips and very well muscled features.
Anyway, I was vindicated a few weeks later when she was admitted to the hospital for malnutrition. Seems she hadn't eaten in six days, stupid girl. I guess everything looks big to a size 0.
And then my aunts came in to town and were fawning over my (non-existent) belly. Don't get me wrong; I think pregnant bellies are beautiful. When I would see someone pregnant and about to pop, I wouldn't ask them to touch their bellies or to ask when they are due, I just tell them that I think that they are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. And I mean it, and I know it makes a lot of women feel more secure.
Why is it, though, now that it's my turn, everyone just keeps talking about my pregnancy weight gain and how big I'm getting? At 11 weeks, I am *just* starting to show. I have gained 3 lbs and I am exercising. So why is everyone suddenly treating me like a whale?!
