What are the best types of exercise during pregnancy, and are there any I should avoid?
It makes sense to avoid sports that put you at risk for rough contact, abdominal trauma or falling, which could put you at risk for preterm delivery. Exercise to avoid during pregnancy includes downhill skiing, kickboxing, hockey, roller-skating or rollerblading and scuba diving. Pregnancy exercise in which most women may safely engage and enjoy include brisk walking, swimming, low-impact aerobics, stationary bicycling and use of an elliptical machine.
