Feeling a little, erm, backed up since you've been baking that bun? It's really common for pregnant women experience constipation, so you're totally not alone! Increased progesterone levels tend to make the muscles of the small and large intestines sluggish, which, in turn, makes YOU sluggish.
Getting things moving may be your primary concern right now. And even though laxatives are not believed to be harmful to pregnant women, it's better to find natural ways to get your bowels moving. Here are some things to try:

- regular exercise
- eating more fruits, vegetables, grains
- drinking plenty of water
- cutting back on dairy products, fatty foods and processed sugar, which can slow you down
- unsulphured blackstrap molasses: two tablespoons dissolved in a glass of warm water helped your grandma with her pregnancy constipation ... it might just help you, too!
