Are there precautions I should take when receiving a massage during my pregnancy?
There are regions of the body and specific therapeutic techniques that are contraindicated for massage during pregnancy. A qualified, trained professional will know what precautions need to be taken.
A pregnant massage client should always ask the therapist about proper positioning on the table. For example, a woman in her first trimester may be able to receive massage in any position on the massage table. But a client in her second or third trimester should never lie on her belly and is limited to certain positions—for her health and safety and that of the baby.
