Now that I'm in my last trimester I can't walk a flight of stairs without getting winded. Is this normal?
Feeling winded, especially after climbing stairs, is an annoying but usually harmless side effect of your body adjusting to your pregnancy. Because your baby takes up more room now, there is less room for your lungs to expand. Pregnant women have to breathe faster to compensate for this change, as well as to meet the increased oxygen demands of the fetus and mother. On top of all that, progesterone gives you the unpleasant sensation that you aren't getting enough air. But don't worry, you are.
