To long have I waited...

Submitted by KAGJMH
After 13 weeks of the worst case of worry and stress in preterm labor, my little girl arrived on April 3rd, 2010. All the stress and anxiety of worrying about what kind of mom I could possibly be after all that time of hating pregnancy and myself. So here is my birth story.. April 2nd, 6:30 pm I'm sitting at the computer talking to my Mom on the phone and telling her my contractions are becoming unbearable and that I didn't think it was fair that my SO was still at work even though I had been begging him to come home and watch his other two children while I went to the hospital. So he finally comes in 5 minutes later I grabbed my bag and off to my Mom's I go so she can take me to the hospital. Two hours of sitting on the monitor they tell me there is nothing they can do I'm 100% effaced and still dilated at 2cm. So I come home... At 10:50 I decided to try to lay down even though my contractions were horrible in my back, but after 13 weeks of being sent home when I went to the hospital, I was no about to go back until my water broke! My SO wrapped his arm around me and kissed my cheek and proceeded to start snoring immediately, I had a bit of a tickle in my throat and though if I got a drink it might help, so I cleared my throat with the intention of going to get some water... the second I cleared my throat my water broke!! Frantically I jumped out of bed, ran into the bathroom and yelled for him to get me a change of clothes. I called my mom, no answer, I called again and again and finally she answered! I told her my water broke and to get her butt here to take me. While doing such my SO looking for a pair of pants insisted that a sweater was a pair of pants and I had to giggle at him. He called his ex wife to have her take the kids and met me at the hospital later. Upon arrival on Labor and Delivery they all gave me funny looks as it had only been 2 hours since they sent me home, they quickly did a test to make sure it was amniotic fluid, which it was and when the nurse saw the two pink lines exclaimed "You're Pregnant" to lighten the mood. They moved me from the Exam Room into LDR 4 it was the biggest room they had and I was the only one in there that night. I was still dilated to 2cm at 1 am, there was another girl that had come in 30 minutes earlier and she was getting her epidural so the Doctor went ahead and told them to do mine. (The other girl was there for 2 hours and delivered mind you I hated her at this point) at 2:30am they started pitocin because I had not progressed in dilation they inserted a uterine cath to measure my contractions and a probe into the baby's head for heart rate monitoring, so I decided to watch the monitor as my Mom and SO took a nap, finally at 6am I slept for 45 minutes, nurses were in and out making sure things were hooked up, changing pads under me because I was loosing blood, then at 9:10 am they came in and said we were going to "practice pushing" the practice pushing was so I could push down and they could move the scar tissue on my cervix that wasn't budging over the top of the baby's head, and at 9:40 am she was born. Mind you this is my first child, 30 minutes of pushing, and I didn't feel a thing. That lovely Doc that did my epidural deserves a medal because I am the biggest pain wuss in the world after 13 weeks of back labor! So Congrats to all the new Mommy's and I hope that everyone's little angels are happy and healthy!
