Waiting to the last minute

Submitted by Patters5
Well my last pregnancy was a total surprise and with being high risk there was so much I had to be caution about. The doctors told me that most woman with my condition does not go to term, so I needed to have my bags packed at 36 which was two weeks before Christmas. With being a mother of four already I was scared I would miss the holidays with my other kids. Well 36 weeks , 37 weeks came and went. I went to the doctor the week of Christmas and they told me to have a good Christmas. So needless to say when I went in to the doctors office on my due date the 13th of January still pregnant they decided they would induced me the following Thursday the 21st. So I went home with no really excitement because I had another week or so I thought on Monday the 18th of January which was a holiday for the older kids I was around the house doing things with the older kids, watching tv, washing clothes and just spending time with the kids. Around three thirty that afternoon I realized that I had be having contractions most of the day not really thinking about since I had been having Braxton Hicks contractions for weeks. But these were not going away. So I called the doctors office and they told me to time them so that they were 8 minutes apart for thirty to forty five minutes then head to the hospital since I was an hour away and it been close to rush hour. Well I started timing them and they were five minutes to seven minutes apart so after about fifteen minutes I decided to call the doctor back and tell her that my husband and I were going to go ahead and leave. In this time we had to wait for someone to come to keep the other kids. So we headed to the hospital around five o'clock and we get in to some traffic. When we got to the hospital I was having the around two minutes apart and they were getting harder. My husband got me settled in and went to move the truck and call to tell family we were staying Lily-Grace was finally going to make her entrance. The nurses could not give me anything for pain until my blood pressure went down. Also I was only dialted 2 when I arrived so I thought to my self this is going to be a long night. By the time that family started arriving I was hurtung really bad and my blood pressure had went done enough so that I could get a epidual ( thank GOD) then about thirty minutes later they broke my water which was around nine. They came to check me at around 11:30 and they told me it was time to get ready to push so around 11:40 I started to push and at 11:53pm Lily-Grace Ann was born weigh in at 8.1577 lbs which rounded up to 9lbs even and was 21 in long. with a head full on dark brown hair was born.
