My friends have told me that I shouldn't do the breast milk pumping until after the baby is born (even though I am leaking) because it can throw me into labor... Which makes me think and this is very personal... My hubby likes my breasts and likes to play with my nipples (sorry about the TMI), because he does play with them... Isn't that nipple stimulation, and couldn't that ALSO throw me into labor or because it is only for a little while (few minutes at a time) that it won't throw me into labor...   Someone please give me an Idea.

Your friend is wrong. Nipple stimulation does cause contractions but it will not put you in labor unless your body is ready.

I agree with what the other ladies have said here.  How far along are you?

Best wishes!

Wanted to add as well that pumping right now won't give you much of anything. It's not milk that is leaking (your milk doesn't come in until after the baby is born). It's colostrum. So unless you are feeling like you need to relieve pressure, I'd step away from the pump. It's just not necessary.

Its true if your body is READY for labor then nipple stimulation can help labor along by causing contactions, but its like anything else that you hear can cause labor such as spicy food, sex, bumpy roads.. Your body has to be ready first. If your not ready for labor nipple stimulation might cause you to have a few more braxton hicks contractions but not a lot else. soooooooooo ;) lol nuff said!

I am not at risk for preterm labor that I know of.  I am going to be 29 Weeks come Thursday, and have an appointment that day as well, So If I am I will learn then... However, This is Awesome news to hear.  And Thanks for letting me know.  This will be my third pregnancy, but, only my second Child, so A lot of the things I could, and should have learned with my first and second pregnancies were very different.  I had never heard about the nipple stimulation thing before so it started to concern me.  Sorry about the Rambling, but, again thank you .

Nipple stimulation will only work to put you into labor if your body is ready for labor. Are you at risk for pre term labor? if no than you can enjoy your sex play all you want ;)
