shower "uncommon" for 2nd baby???

Ok ladies got a question....I am due with my 2nd little boy in December (my 1st is 2 1/2yrs) and I have heard that it is "uncommon" to have a shower for the 2nd if they are the same gender. Well.....I got rid of ALOT of my 1st sons things to make room for the toys he played with and now dont have a lot left. My mom threw my shower last time and my sis-in-law wants to throw one this time but I don't want to seem like a greedy person to anyone that comes. :( I really would like to have one just to get some basics, clothes, diapers, wipes...nothing big. I think the biggest item we need is a swing and a double stroller.
I have made some new friends and started a new job since the last shower so I am thinking that with all the new people that will be there it will be like a whole new party and I shouldnt feel bad.
So....do I let the shower go as planned or do I try to buy things on my own???

Some of my friends have done Sprinkles. Its usually just a small shower. with close friends and family. but everyone is different. My sister in law just had her second boy they are 4 years apart and a few of us got together and got some things (that she was very thankful for) They also got rid of a lot of stuff or it was out dated so they collected coupons all year and just bought a little bit at a time throughout her pregnancy.

i would deffinately have another shower.until i was on this site,i never heard of not havinga baby shower for any reason whether it was the second kid or the fifth.

mj you are def fine to have a shower.....esp since it has been that long!! I have heard that if its been over 5 years between the two even if they are the same gender you should have a shower.
I told my sis-in-law about the sprinkle and I think thats what we will do...thanks! :) I'm excited to get to December!!! :)

I think I heard it's called a baby sprinkle. Basically everyone just gets you the essentials. I did this for a friend of mine. I too got rid of all my stuff. My youngest is 5. Some of my friends are talking about giving me a shower and I too worry about it since I had one with my first but that was 7years ago.
