As predicted, Sophia and Jacob reign supreme once again. In fact, America loves Sophia SO MUCH, it landed on the top 20 twice, at #1, and # 18 (spelled Sofia)! As for the boys, it was a nail-biter this year: only 43 births separated the #1 Jacob from Mason, in the #2 spot. This is Jacobs 14th year in the #1 spot, while it is the second year for Sophia.

Latino/Latinate Names Among the highest risers on both the girls and boys list are Latino influenced names; Gael for boys and Perla for girls.
Names Influenced by Pop Culture Arya, which most will recognize from The Game of Thrones series, proved to be the highest rising girls name of the year. For boys, the fastest climber was Major. In fact, all names promoting monarchy and hierarchy seemed to rise in popularity across the boards: Messiah, Mack, Maverick and King also climbed the ranks from last year.
