Thoughts please!!
Trying to get a short list of girls and boys names - preferably 2 of each. Have a daughter already called Amelia.
So far for girls - Ruby, Zoe, Tilly, Chloe (would they still be appealing on a teenager/young adult?
Then for boys - Jack, Max, Charlie, Ryan
Any opinions on these? Other suggestions? I would like them to complement each other. Have got some middle names sorted based on family -
Madeline, Alice, Claire, Mary. William, James, Alexander.

Further appreciation for the other replies since I last posted :)
From reading through, and chatting to DH, we are becoming more certain....but in a way having more discussions haha!
Girls names - Ruby is our fave for sure - either Ruby Madeline or Ruby Claire
Potentially have Zoe as second choice - with either of the same middle names.
Had an idea as well that if we do have three children and they are all girls, would look at Charlotte Alice (but call her Charlie as nn)
Boys names - I always loved Jack and Liam....but after some thought, perhaps could name a son William Jack (but call him Liam, or Will, or Billy)
Then I could also have Max if have three children and next two are boys (otherwise to me Max and Jack were too similar) - but then he would have middle name Alexander, bu would make his initials MAD!! So maybe stick with my other thought of Ryan Alexander instead
Thanks again :)

I like Ruby. I've never seen the appeal of Zoe and Chloe, but lots of people like them. Tilly is way too nicknamey for me..it sounds like a dog's name to me.
Jack and Max are handsome, Charlie is too nicknamey...I would choose Charles and call him Charlie if you like it....and Ryan just isn't my style and is a bit out dated imo
Good LUck!

I love Amelia! So cute!
For the girls, I really like Tilly, but only as a nickname for Matilda. I think Matilda and Amelia make really good siblings. As for the other names, I can see all of them on a teenager or young adult, but I don't think they fit very well with Amelia. I feel like Sophia, Olivia, Genevieve, Emmeline, or Eloise would fit with the style. Do you like any of those names?
I like Charlie a lot, but I think giving him Charles as a full name can calling him Charlie might give him a few more options in the future if he doesn't want to go by Charlie. I'm not a big fan of the others. Any chance you'd be willing to do William as a first name instead of a middle name with the nickname Liam or Will? I think Charles nn Charlie and William nn Will/Liam would fit well with Amelia!
I love your list and you really can't go wrong with any of them!

Very good picks!
out of the girls, i love Chloe & Amelia! it sounds like a perfect match :) my daughter's name is Chloe, and it's so spunky yet cute.. it's fitting for very diverse personalities.. i've never met a middle aged Chloe, but an elderly woman in my neighborhood is named Chloe, and i think it's very sweet on her. it seems youthful, but not childish... also adventurous, yet sweet!
the runner up for girls names is complicated.. I LOVE the name Zoe.. It would be my top pick this time around if i didn't already have a Chloe. At the same time, I think that Ruby might match up better with Amelia. Ruby & Amelia... Zoe & Amelia... I'm thinking as a match, Ruby would be #2 choice, and Chloe #1.
for the boys, although Jack is my favorite name out of these, I'd say that Jack & Amelia would be the #2 sibset choice. It flows very nicely, and the names seem to maybe be from the same time period or something, they definitely go together perfectly. However, there's something I'm really liking in the sibset Max & Amelia. I can totally see it. I don't think you could choose a better name if you are looking for something to "go" with Amelia.
So...
#1 choices are Max & Amelia/Chloe & Amelia
#2 choices are Jack & Amelia/Ruby & Amelia
As for middle names..
Ruby Madeline is very cute..
Ruby Alice is nice, too..
Max William definitely works..
Charlie Ryan...
Jack Alexander..
Ryan James..
I'm really not good at combos lol but those seem to go nicely, imo :)
GL!!!

From the girls...I'd pick Ruby to go with big sister Amelia. The only girl name on the list I don't like is Tilly...not even as a nickname. My second choice would be Zoe.
My combos would be Ruby Madeline and Zoe Claire.
The only one of the boy names I'd chose is Ryan because the others are nicknames in my opinion. But since you want two choices I'll also pick Max (I'd much prefer Maxwell though)
Ryan Alexander
Max William

I have a daughter named Matilda Mae and I love it and it fits her but I named her Matilda with the intention of calling her Tilly. But when I started to call her Tilly my son, who was 2 and a half, couldn't say Tilly and it came out Titty. Ever since then the name has been somewhat ruined for me.
I like Ruby the best from your list for a girl and Ryan for a boy.

I like them all, except I'd use Tilly as a nn for Matilda, Jack for John, Max for Maxwell/Maximilian, Charlie for Charles.
Ruby Madeline
Zoé Madeline/Zoé Claire
Matilda Mary
Chloe Madeline
John William
Maxwell/Maximilian James
Charles William
Ryan Alexander

Aww thanks ladies - really appreciate it :) Some other ideas there for me to think about, plus some feedback to help me feel more sure about some of the choices I already have - not due until Nov/Dec, but I feel so passionate about getting the 'right' name that I have started with the thought process - I am pretty much sold on Jack if baby is a boy....and most likely Ruby for a girl......but then I did like the suggestion of some of the other names. With Amelia I always knew her name had to start with 'A' - no reason, its just the feeling I had, whereas this time, I don't have that so more to consider I guess. I was mindful when choosing Amelia though that it had to be a lovely enough name without being shortened, but that I liked any possible nn from it (like Milly, Meelie, Mia etc) - she actually gets called AJ because her middle name is Jane. Plus it needed to suit a baby, child, teenager - right up to Nana/Grandma. Thanks again

Love Jack and Ruby! I love Tilly a lot, too, but I don't think it really works on its own. Just a bit too nicknamey for me, especially since Amelia got a full, lovely name. If you really love Tilly, what about Matilda, Ottilie, Elisabeth, Clotilda? I've heard all of those could get the nn Tilly. :) I think a lot of them would be great with Amelia, too. I like Max and Charlie from your boys' list, too, but I prefer Charles nn Charlie and while I like Max, I just like Jack better. :) (I know, I'm such a hypocrite, haha, liking just Jack but not just Tilly or Charlie...)
For combos I like Ruby Claire the best for the girls, and from the boys, I can't pick between Jack William and Jack Alexander! I adore them both. I also really like Ruby Madeline and Ruby Alice, though!
Good luck!

Well... first off, I just wanted to say that you have beautiful taste in names. :) Love 'em all ('cept for "Tilly" of which I'm not a fan -- sorry) ... and ESPECIALLY in Amelia. So cute!So since we've established that I don't care for Tilly (I'll give you a point for originality, at least, as I've never heard it on any kid recently) ... I would say in the following order (high to low), I like: Ruby, Chloe, then Zoe. For no other reason than simply the way they sound. I also happen to think that Ruby & Amelia "fit" together perfectly. (By the way, my favorite middle name to go with it would be Claire. Ruby Claire is simple and adorable ... and would fit all ages, as another poster already mentioned -- from infancy through adulthood to seniority alike.) And Ruby Madeline would be my 2nd choice. :) If you went with Chloe, call me crazy, but I think Chloe Claire sounds so sweet together too. Love it. (I guess I'm partial to the middle name of Claire, eh? :) I even like it as a first name, to be honest. Works w/ everything!) I'd be yellin' out "Chloe Claire" this and "Chloe Claire" that, lol. It just rolls right off the tongue! You seem like you like feminine names (me too!), and I have a friend who is naming her baby "Brielle." Just throwin' that out there. She put it up on Facebook and ppl seemed to really love it. Amelia & Brielle (or even Brie! -- assuming one called 'er that as a nickname) sound adorable together. And back I go to Claire again! :) Brielle Claire totally works for me. But alas, it's YOU that it needs to work for.As for boys:My son's name is Jack. :) SO. I am partial. Jack Joseph because both are family names ... and we have a Molly Margaret (also a family name) ... so I was keeping with the double first letters, I guess. :) (Which would explain my taste for Chloe Claire, huh? Ha!) I think Jack Ryan, Jack William, and Jack Alexander all sound perfect together too. In order , for boys, I'd say ... Jack, Ryan, Charlie, Max. Ryan and Charlie are probably tied for 2nd place though ... I couldn't decide which I loved more and switched their places multiple times upon writing this. Even Max, in last place, is cute ... just seems to becoming awfully popular as of late. Ryan James, Charlie James, Charlie William ... all work nicely. I, too, am a fan of giving kids a middle name of significance. You are lucky that all your family names are relatively cute. We had an Agnes, an Edgar, a Louise (MY middle name incidentally), a Mary Rita, a Judith ... which were much harder to work with, to be honest. lol. Since I gave an 'extra' suggestion for a girl's name, I'll give you one for a boy too. My new favorite is Garrett for some reason ... upon looking it up to find it's origin/meaning, I also found Greyson (cute!) ... and my cousins just gave their baby another family name -- Leo. I thought it was awful at first, but it's really grown on me. In fact, my uncle's name is Leo James! A good strong name, and one of your middle-picks. All your male middle names work w/ Garrett or Greyson too. Names are a very personal thing, BUT like I said - I think you have great taste! Every one of your choices are good, and I doubt you'll go wrong. You found something awesome for Amelia, and you'll do the same for this babe too. :) Lotsa luck to you throughout your pregnancy, delivery, and baby-naming quest! Hope my (very looonnnng) message helps. :)

Ruby is the only girl's name I see fitting on adult, elderly person etc. It used to be favourite girl's name but it's too popular in the UK, but that doesn't make it a great name for somebody else. Amelia & Ruby are utterly perfect together, and I so vote for this if baby is a girl.
Zoe, Tilly and Chloe sound really childish to me, especially Tilly because it is a nickname. Matilda would be great, and sound nice with Amelia too. I can't imagine a Chloe or Zoe over the age of about 7!
All of the boys are too popular for me, but Max is the stand out and I think it's perfect Amelia. Would prefer Maxwel nn Max though.
Amelia & Ruby / Amelia & Max get my vote!
Other ideas...
Amelia & Eloise
Amelia & Scarlett
Amelia & Violet
Amelia & Poppy
Amelia & Madeleine 'Maddie'
Amelia & Silas
Amelia & Tristan
Amelia & Xander
Amelia & Declan
Amelia & Rhys
Amelia & Jude
