Maya, Maia, Maiya, or Mya... Too many choices
After talking it over with family and friends, eveyone seems to be on board with the name the "M" name... Now, i have to figure out what spelling to use!
We are either going to use Kate, or Jade as a middle name, so please share your opinions, and spelling preference, thanks!
Maia, Maya, Mya, Maiya... and on it goes...

I LOVE the name Maia. Absolutely love it. I don't know why but I've always much preferred the Maia spelling to Maya. I think either nn would work but I agree with pp that Maia Kate is a great combination.

I greatly prefer Maia. I've always thought Maya, though a bit more traditional and of course associated with the Mayans, ought to be pronunced Mey-uh over Mai-uh. I don't think it would be commonly confused, I've just always liked Maia better because of that. Maiya looks like you're trying too hard to have a new spelling, though it's simple, it's unnecessary. And Mya I would instinctively pronounce as just one syllable, Myuh, before recognizing it's supposed to be Maia/Maya.
As I said on your Emmeline thread, I really like Kate as a middle name. I worry that two 4-letter names might seem too short, though? Maia/Maya is two sllables, which definitely off-sets that, but...t's something that I would have to consider deeply....

My cousin has a baby named Mya, but I personally I like Maia best. I'm considering Kaia for my baby if it's a girl. Best of luck, though I will warn that it's a startlingly popular name where I live and she might have a lot of other "M" names in her class.

I already weighed in on the Emmeline thread, but I thought I'd choose a spelling in case you decide not to go with Emmeline.
I like the Maia spelling personally, as I think it looks very sweet and airy. The Maya spelling is also perfectly acceptable but is closer to Mayan as in the people.
I have a second cousin named Maia but she spells it Mijah. We are Norwegian so j's are pronounced as y's. I like this spelling but it could get a little confusing! Maija and Maja could be options if you wanted to go there, haha. I also like Kaia/Kaija!

Maya is my favorite! Maia and Mya are fine, but I think Maiya is a bit much.
Maya gets my vote!

Maia--lovely
Maya--okay
Mya--looks dumb, honestly
Maiya--overdone
Maia Jade would be my choice.

To me, your choices are Maia or Maya. Any other variations look a bit daft. Out of the two, I'd go with Maya. Maia is a bit vowel heavy for my liking.
