What does everyone think of the name Lana (pronounced Lah-nah like the sound in the beginning of LAWN.? It reminds me of Lana Turner and I love her from old movies!

I'm not a fan of 'lawna' but where I live we say it 'lah-na' (more like larna) which I quite like : )

It was the name of the street I grew up on, so it's got a beautiful significance to me. I rather prefer Alana/Alanna, though, it just seems a bit more elegant and full. Lana could be a nickname for it. Something about it on its own seems off to me, too simple, though Lina, Lena, and Luna all work just fine, so maybe it would be okay...

My only problem is that I have an older family member... I don't remember how we're related, but her name is Lana, but it's pronounced Lan-ah like clan without the "c". So I feel like it'd be frequently mispronounced. I had a friend growing up named Alana and she pronounced it Ah-lain-ah and she was constantly correcting teachers and it bugged her to no end. Something to keep in mind, besides that it's a lovely name.
