Ruby Rain S. for baby girl name?
I've posted a few names on here before and we have finally decided on Ruby for our little girl but have not been able to decide on a middle name. I would rather have a one syllable middle name but nothing too plain or nothing that sounds like a "filler name". Id rather not use anything that starts with an s since our last name does and im obsessed with monograms on everything so rSs just wouldnt be pretty. My husband and I both really like Ruby Rain but I would like some outside advice on how this sounds together please.

i think we may have decided to go with Macy Rose. My husband has been dead set on Macy since I was pregnant with our son almost 5 years ago and i picked his name out myself so I think its fair to let him pick our girl's first name as long as i approve and i picked the middle name, Rose. Ive been so wishy washy on all the names Ive thought of so far and hes really stuck on macy, plus so far its the only name that i can actually imagine calling a baby. Thank you guys for all your advice. I hope we have made a final decision and we arent changing our minds again next month! lol
Macy is really cute! Does it matter that her initials are MRS? There could obviously be way worse initials (Alexander Sullivan Sanders, for example). As long as it doesn't matter to you, Macy Rose is really cute! Congrats!

Hmm, as far as Gaelic names go, Maeve is probably the closest to phonetic of the bunch. It's pronounced MAYV, just like it looks. Blythe is pronounced like the word blithe--just like it looks with the th as in 'the' or with the th as in 'throw' (a la Blythe Danner).
So, do you still want to go with a one syllable name only? I think Ruby could work beautifully with one that is three or four syllables instead. I also don't think Layla is better than Ruby! Ruby is much more classic :)
Were there any names on the list I gave that you did like? I'm trying to get some direction because I can see how stressful this is and I totally want to help!

Thanks for all your input guys! I never thought about the mental image of red rain.. now i dont see how i didnt. Im close to 30 weeks now and we are clueless on a baby name! Im really getting so stressed about it and havent slept. With my first child we had his name picked before i was even pregnant and this time i cant think of a name that i like thats not already taken! I like Ruby, I like Rose as a middle name but hate them together because i think it sounds like red rose. I like Ruby Mae until i heard that there is a sont about ruby mae being a prostitute who was murdered and her body hid. that kind of turned me off to that name together. I like Grace as a middle name but its my husbands sisters name so he doesnt want to use it. We had Macy picked for my son if he would have been a girl 4 years ago and my husband is still dead set on it but now i know a few kids named macy. Our last name is skinner. I love scarlett but dont like scarlett skinner because of the 2 "sk" sounds. We also kind of like Layla Rose but a girl i know just named her baby that. We're not good friends or anythng but im hesitant to use it after she did. I dont like names like maeve or blythe or things like that because ive never heard them before and have no idea how they are even pronounced but i do like vintagy feeling names. Please give us some suggestions!

In a monogram the last initial is in the middle so ours is S so the s would be the bigger one in the middle not r

I'm with many others in thinking that Ruby Rain just makes me think of blood rain which isn't very pretty :/ I love the suggestion of Ruby Maeve! I like the idea of Ruby Eve, but it's a bit hard to say because of the dueling long-e sounds, so I would avoid it.
Other suggestions (I bolded ones I like!):
Ruby Blythe (too many b-sounds?)
Ruby Claire
Ruby Faith
Ruby Fleur (technically means red flower, but less obviously a noun-name)
Ruby Grace
Ruby Gwen
Ruby Hope
Ruby Jane
Ruby Jean
Ruby Jill
Ruby Joan
Ruby Kate
Ruby Lark (goes against the no-noun-name rule, but I like Lark :/)
Ruby Liv (liv or leev, Norwegian for 'life')
Ruby Love (I had a customer with this on her ID, so it is a valid combo!)
Ruby Mae
Ruby Maeve
Ruby Mair (Welsh, said like mare or mire)
Ruby Maude
Ruby Meg
Ruby Nell
Ruby Niamh (Gaelic, prn NEEV, can be spelled Neve)
Ruby Paige
Ruby Quinn
Ruby Shea (or Shay, goes against the monogramming rule, sorry!)
Ruby Wynne

I don't mind the name, it's a little cutesy for my taste, but since it's not very often she will use her middle name I don't see a problem with it. I'm just curious, what it is you don't like about the initial rSs because I don't see how rRs looks any better. I'm not saying either looks bad but I'm not into monograms so I don't see difference.

I like Ruby, I like Rain, and they sound cute together, but immediately my mind went to red rain, which then went to blood, and then I got a mental image of some scene from one of those really gory horror movies where someone is murdered violently and blood just spurts everywhere. (Sorry for the mental image....)
So, honestly, I can't say that I like that combination much at all, because I don't think I'm the only one who will make associationgs like that. On their own they sound pretty, but both names are common enough words that they create an image.
If you're set on Ruby, try for a middle name that's not also a noun, so her name won't sound like it's describing something. Some one syllable ones that came to mind:
Ruby Lynn (maybe a little common, but pretty)
Ruby Paige
Ruby Grace
Ruby Jane
Ruby Rose (this might be a little cheesy, but the image of a red rose is more apealing than red rain, and it keeps the initials the same)
Ruby Quin/Quinn
Ruby Reese
Ruby May
Ruby Eve
Ruby Belle
Ruby Claire

Ruby Rain= red rain, not a big fan somehow Rain is stealing the vintage beauty of Ruby and making it hippie/ stripperish sounding.
Ruby Pearl
Ruby Grace
Ruby Jane
Ruby Tess
Ruby Claire
Ruby Paige
Ruby Kate
Ruby Brynn
Ruby Faith
Ruby Faye
Ruby Blythe

Ruby Rain has a funky vibe and sound to it but it's pairing up a pretty vintage/old fashioned name with a mondern/trendy one and I'm not sure it works the best. What about:Ruby Maeve
Ruby Lane
Ruby Eve
Ruby Mae
Ruby Quinn
Ruby Blythe
Ruby Sage
