Avery?
What are your thoughts on Avery Kaitlin? My MIL suggested it today and we really like it. How does it sound with Nolan and Aidan? Do you prefer Avery or Averie?

Really like Avery (more than Averie). Much prefer it for a girl as opposed to a boy.

Avery Charlotte is a great combo! I love the feminine, classic nature of Charlotte with Avery's spunk. Brennan Lucas is very handsome as well!

Thank you for the opinions! We have decided to use Avery Charlotte for a little girl. :) If this baby is a boy he will be Brennan Lucas.

The naming boards are the only place I have read negativity about Avery on a girl. Ironically I find this one TOO frilly for boy. In real life everyone loves it, even the Pediatrician after I gave birth said to me "I love her name, Avery Rose it is so pretty". To each is own, there are lots of names that are classified as "unisex" that I personally would not use on a boy, Ashley, Aubrey, Brynn, Brooke, Alexis, Hadley, Harper, Madison, Addison, Ainsley, the list just goes on :)
Even though I expressed slight hesitation to Avery on a girl, it's only because it's a name that I wish could be used on a boy. I definitely agree that it has a soft sound that works really well on a girl. It is also much more popular for girls, so I would assume an Avery was a girl. I also agree on almost all of the names you listed as unisex but basically exclusively girly! I actually quite like Ainsley on a girl :) I think that Nolan, Aidan, and Avery would make a good sibset and that people would assume Avery is a girl.

I am so surprised about the number of responses on here that prefer Avery for a boy. My niece is named Avery, and it is the most beautiful girl's name I have ever heard! Seriously, if it weren't already my niece's name, I would name my baby girl Avery in a heartbeat!!
I feel it is elegant, yet also sweet and strong. And that has been the response by others to her name since she was born 7 years ago. I prefer the spelling Avery to Averie, but think both are nice (Averie will just be misspelled more often I believe.)
And i LOVE LOVE LOVE Avery Kaitlin! (If I didn't spell Kaitlin the way you did, it's because I can't see your original post now that I'm replying!) But I love that combo! :)

In general I don't like traditionally boys' names on girls but this one I like. I know I'm biased though because a girl I baby-sat for when I was a teenager was named Avery. It's definitely grown on me. :) It's also a lot more popular now for girls than for boys. If you do use it, I do prefer Avery to Averie.

Sorry but I feel the same as some of the others. To me Avery is a boy name. This was my pick for our boy list and now it has gotten cut do to girls taking it over. Everyone teel me to use it as a girl name, but I just can't see it for a girl. Kinda a bummer the one that like it for a boy so to just go ahead, hubby won't now.
Sorry again Good Luck.

I've met exactly one Avery in my life. And he's a boy.
Sorry, I hate it when names switch genders :(

I prefer Avery, which is a beautiful name fitting with Kaitlin
If you think about spelling it Averie I would spell Kaitlyn like this.
Avery Kaitlin
or
Averie Kaitlyn

I think Avery should stay a boy's name. Aveline, Ava, and Evelyn are good for girls IMO.

Honestly, Avery is exclusively a boys name to me, I hate that it's becoming so trendy for girls. The combination's kind of pretty, but if I heard the name Avery, I'd assume it was a boy immediately. And I feel like, with Nolan and Aidan, I'd assume it was another boy, the three names have a similar feel to them in my mind....
Also, definitely Avery, even if you use it for a girl. I just greatly prefer the more common spelling for any name, Averie looks like it's trying to hard to be girly.

I've really come to prefer this on a boy, but with it's popularity as a girl's name and it's seeming similarity to Ava, I think that most would assume an Avery was a girl. For a girl, I actually slightly prefer Averie because it does look a bit more feminine to me (and I'm usually not a fan of "misspellings"). I think Averie Caitlin is nice. I don't really like C-names spelled with K's... I think Nolan, Aidan, and Averie would make a good sibset; they are pretty similar in their styles. Good luck!

I might be a bit biased as I have the most adorable little 5 year old named Avery Rose :) I still love her name! She has the nn Ava too so I got both names in one. I have no idea where the rest of my original post went to, but I prefer the original spelling, and I suggested Avery Katherine or Avery Kathleen as alternates to Kaitlin. I want to add that Aidan is my top boys name at the moment, if we ever added to our crew I would totally use the two in a sibset and not worry about gender confusion, all 6 of my children have names classified as "unisex"..

I vastly prefer Avery for a boy, sorry. I guess I'm biased as it's a family name for me, but no matter how many girl Averys I come across, I still prefer it for a boy. It doesn't sound girly to me at all. Objectively speaking, Avery Kaitlin sounds okay (although I prefer the more classic Caitlin spelling with the more trendy Avery), but I am not sure I like Aidan and Avery together--they sound quite matchy to me.
I prefer Averie for a girl, though. It has a fairy-like quality to me that I can appreciate.
