Your Opinions On The Name Ava?
I love the name Ava. I would like to get some opinions on it though. Also what names do you think I could use as a middle name?
Thanks for any help.

As everyone else has said...it is pretty, but it is so trendy and popular right now.
My cousins recently named their daughter Ava and while it is the only Ava I know personally, I have heard it being used on every baby naming site and every baby naming book says it is among the most popular names. It really depends on whether you mind having your daughter share her name with many others. My favorite girl name has been Ivy for years and while it is growing in popularity which irks me, I don't think it is enough to ever make me change my mind about using it. So, I say if you love it use it!
Good luck

I love the name Ava. I grew up on all those old time-y movies so Ava Gardner comes to mind so I love it because of that. Doesn't it also mean "life" in Hebrew? I think I saw that somewhere, could be wrong.

Ava is pretty. It's overdone, but it's pretty. I've only met one Ava, but I'm a bit tired of hearing it discussed on the name boards. And for some reason, it seems trendier than Eva, since people seem to replace "E"s with "A"s to avoid getting the EE beginning of some names (Avangeline instead of Evangeline, Alise instead of Elise, Aliana instead of Eliana--although in this case, I think people are more just wanting the "Allie"-ah-nah sound instead of Ellie-ah-nah). And I'd heard years ago that before Ava Gardner, Eva was pretty much equally said like EE-vah and AY-vah, and that it just didn't really matter. But they wanted something more glamorous and flashy when Ava Gardner made it big, so they changed the spelling of her name to Ava. I don't know if it's true--I tried googling it, and the Ava Gardner estate or something said that her name had always been spelled Ava, so I don't know. It does have a bit of a trendy feel to it, but it's so glamorous and gorgeous at the same time, and has years of history. I do like Eva better, personally, mainly because I love Evie for a nn. :)
I like a lot of the combos that have been already mentioned--Ava Penelope, Ava Caroline, Ava Juliet, Ava Josephine, Ava Madeleine, etc. I don't know if Ava Madeleine was mentioned, but I like it.

I feel it's completely over done right now though I have a daughter named Emma and probably most would feel the same way about her name. I don't know, Ava has just never really been a favorite of mine. It's a pretty name just not something I'd use.

Ava is glamorous and pretty, just exceedingly popular right now. I assume you're aware of that and that it doesn't bother you. Since it's so popular, I would stick it with a rare middle name:
Ava Clarisse
Ava Dorothy
Ava Bellatrix
Ava Geraldine
Ava Christiane
Ava Juliette
Ava Dominique
Ava Magdalene
Ava Georgette
Ava Nicolette
