Is Liam William a bad combination?
We'd decided on William as a middle name, and then recently decided that we really like Liam for a first name. But does Liam William seem weird, since Liam is the last 4 letters of William? Thanks! :)

I think you need to pick one-either Liam as a fn or William as the middle it totally is silly to use together.

I have to agree with the majority and say that Liam is a form of William. It's like Xander and Alexander or Annabelle and Bella. You could use William and use nn Liam. I personally LOVE the name Liam and would just use it as it's own first name. What about a different strong middle name Liam Alexander? Just a thought :) It has been one of our combos b4.

You should just name him William nn Liam. But you should definately refrain from using both in the same combo, as Liam is a form of William. IMO, William is such a strong, handsome and classy name, and you can basically use so many nicknames with it, including Liam.

Liam William does not work, period.
Yep. Totally agree.

I wouldn't use it since Liam is used often as a nn for Williams. But I know how you feel since Liam is pronounced Lee-um and William is pronounced Will-yum so they don't sound that similar.

I think it's bad too.. I like the idea of William nicknamed Liam though.

It would be like naming him Jimmy James, or a daughter Tina Christina.

Yeah, sorry, but since Liam is a nickname for William, I think it's odd. It's like naming your kid Beth Elizabeth or Xander Alexander or something. Is there any reason you wouldn't name him William as a first name and call him Liam for short?

That's what I'm thinking, that the combination just doesn't work. Sad! I love both names!

They are both nice names but not in combination. They both end up with iam.

I like both Liam and William but not in combination, sorry :( If you say it really fast it sounds almost like the same name.
What do you think of Drew William or Liam Robert. Sounds more masculin when paired like this (my opinion at least).
