Will My Daughter hate me forever
If her initials spell GAK? is that horrible?
I really like the name Grace Amelia but that would leave her with the initials GAK.
If that's awful, any suggestions for a middle name to go with Grace? Our last name has two syllables with the accent on the first, and I'm having a hard time finding a middle name that flows right.

You could definitely do worse, initial wise. Our last name starts with a C and we knew we wanted the name Avery as a first name. My hubby didn't quite get it, but I would not consider any names that began with B, K, or O (Aceytline Oxygen Company is a big comp. down here and they go by AOC).
If you are that worried about it, definiltey think about some alternative mn choices. I do have to sa, though, Grace Amelia is beautiful. :)

I dont think its horrible. But if it bothers you that mcuh you could go with Grace Emilia. It sounds almost the same, but with a different middle initial.

I think Grace Amelia is beautiful and that she probably won't even notice what her initials sound like!

I was going to suggest Emelia as well. Camelia and Camille are both lovely names with a likeness to Amelia.
Hopefully she won't marry a SO with the last name starting with an "S" (GAS) or "M" (GAM) lol!
But if you think about anything too much, you can drive yourself crazy =)

GAK really iskt all that bad. My initial are BLT.it bothered me for like a day when i was growing up, but now i could care less. Initials aren't as bad as everyone makes thme out to be.

Oh, and I forgot; Grace Amelia is darling - feminine and sophicsticated!
I also liked the suggestion of Grace Victoria - loads of class there. These came to mind too:Grace MathildeGrace ArabellaGrace MadelineGrace Liliane

I personally wouldn't worry about it. As Annabel and others have pointed out, it doesn't actually spell anything horrible!! Most won't even think about it.
This is coming from me, who, before I got married had the initials S.A.D, and now that I'm married, I have the initials S.A.G - not much better really. Most people never even picked up on the initials anyway
Some people don't even think about initials! A good friend of my DH has a last name that begins with T and he and his wife were planning to name their DD 'Saskia Harlow Ivy T---' .. that would have been terrible!

I really want to thank you all for your input. My husband and I both really like Grace Amelia, and I can't even begin to tell you how hard a time we've had finding a name that we both like. LOL.
So with the reassurances of y'all, I think we're going to go with that, unless we come up with a name we like better. Which, since we have two months less, is quite possible LOL. I've been having issues with this and I think I'm driving my poor dh insane. :)

I dont think that initials are ever really used, most likely if you never metioned it to her she wouldnt even notice or care.
I think it's a lovely name.
Hmm, I disagree with this school of thought... I've been obsessed with names since I was a child & my initials (KES) were always on my mind. I decorated my binders, book covers, wooden wall-hanging letters all revolving around my initials. Obviously, I liked my monogram & now that I'm married it's changed to KEM. Not as nice, but fortunately I still like it. Albeit, there are probably waaay more children that NEVER give a thought to things such as initials... but you could birth a kiddo like me & she very well may love all things name-related. Just something to consider; with that being said, I don't think that GAK is awful. It's not beautiful, but it isn't bad. Changing it to 'Emilia' as a pp suggested wouldn't help as her initials would then be GEK... aka "Geek". Anyway, I think the meaning of the names is uber-important, but if the initials bother you now then they'll probably continue to do so. Sounds like you may have some name-nerdiness like myself. haha ;) Some suggestions in case you decide to scratch Amelia off the list...
Grace Gianna K__ (alliteration may help avoid the spelling pitfalls of initials)
Grace Genevieve K___
Grace Johannah K___
Grace Lorelei K__ (pp suggested & I like it)
Grace Noelle/a K___
Grace Natalia K___
HTH... best of luck to you!! :)

No, that's not that bad. And if you think about it, if she takes her husband's last name, it will more than likely only be her initial temporarily.

Here's my two cents:
Cent #1- How about adding another name after Amelia to completely change the initials? Grace Amelia Marie or Grace Amelia Lynelle for example. Then you'd have GAMK or GALK. There are so many lovely names, you could likely come up with a third.
Cent #2- Your little girl will probably not have the same last name all her life, when she gets married she may change it so give her the name you adore and don't worry about it. GAK is really not that bad at all.

Not a big deal. Don't sweat it.
Agreed. :)
I have a friend who gave her son the initals B.S. Now that is bad.
