Preparing for Baby: Keeping Family Informed of Babys Arrival

They mean well, but do you really want to answer "Are you in labor?" another 30 times today while you're preparing for baby? Put a message on your voice mail at home and on your cell phone—"Baby's not here yet! We'll let you know!"—and then let it do the talking for you. Turn off the ringer and enjoy these last few hours of cry-free alone time ... well, OK, hubby can stay.
You can use technology to your benefit as well. Tell family to check your Facebook status line or Twitter feed, where you can share the good news without having to answer nonstop inquiries as to the baby's whereabouts. You can upload a photo or video to share with family and friends online.
Don't want to be so public about your baby's arrival? You can set up a Family group on your cell phone to share the good news via text message. Set up separate groups for close friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc., so you can filter news accordingly and in appropriate order. Or create a birth announcement you can email out in bulk when the baby is born. All you'll (or hubby, really, because you'll be too busy) have to do is plug in the baby's name, vitals and a photo.
There are also services you can sign up for while you're preparing for baby that allow you to share information, photos, video and more with a select group of people. You'll have to invite family and friends to register or sign the guest book in order to have access to the information.
