What's the deal with the pregnancy tests?

On November 22nd I took my first pregnancy test, it came out positive, so I go try and do what I need to do to get help with medical care, and they said they needed proof from a Medical Provider.
They said Birthline would suffice. So I went to Birthline today, and the pregnancy test there said negative. Well I was always told that no matter how faint the line on a pregnancy test is, if it shows up you're pregnant, and the line on my first pregnancy test was not faint at all...I don't know what to think now, and it really bothers me. Does any one have any advice?
