we learned that trick from an old asian woman, she said all of her children were conceived that way!!! we have been ttc since jan. 2009 but have had nothing but problems, we thought about trying the egg whites on the random ovulations that occurred but could never get the nerve to go through with it.
Ghawd,
Us old-timers ( in the TTC world that is) have got to try some crazy stuff sometimes! I was really wierded out by the process. Mentally it's rough since you are essentially conceiving without sex and I have a hard time with that. But then I think that this must be what IVF and IUI treatments must feel like only in a heightened sense. At least we are in our bedroom and not in a doctors office, although that may be looming in our future. It's physically easy but strange. We opted for using a glass (easier to sanitize) turkey baster, and had my husband "Deposit" into the egg whites before inserting them. Maybe giving them a helping hand by getting them all happy and swimmy first. At least that's our story and we are sticking to it. Like you, my ovulation is random. So hitting it just right is hard as hell, and almost like blindfolding ourselves then playing darts from 50 feet out. I can say that I feel no side effects from this method. No discomfort or smell or anything like that at all. I was worried that I now carried a sign above my head that read "I inserted egg whites and sperm into my hoo ha last night. What'd you do?" But I feel better now that we are in the 2WW, and I had a healthy chat with my SIL. If it doesn't work right off, we will try again for a few months. Advice - I'd say if you were going to try it, use only a little bit, the thicker part of the white is best. Do NOT stand or clench your muscles after you insert it, it'll come right out, and be sure that it is room temp before cracking it. Cause cold egg whites . . . let's just say that is the LAST place you want shivers!

I'm out this month! Started spotting this morning. Next period will be July 22.
My husband and I did something wild and crazy today! I've never had a reading done .... and neither had he. So we stopped in and had one! The lady said that we have a big problem that will be solved within a month -- which we do. My husband and I filed for bankruptcy over all of his medical bills and I've been so stressed out. She said that when that gets resolved, she said we could conceive. She also said that we are going on a trip in August, which we are going to a family get together in Idaho and then hitting up an amusement park, we would conceive at this time! haha! I don't place much stock in what she said, but it sounded good to me! haha! :) *clinking my wine glass* here's to hoping she's right! :)
Hope everyone is having better luck than I in the "ttc" department. Best wishes to all.

Greetinggs to all. I have been TTC since January 2009, and have been off and on around here since that time. I even held the board for a short time! I recognise a few names and to all, old and new, I say Hi! I am back for another go round. My husband and I decided to put off intense charting and trying for 6 months, since the last time was so heartbreaking and disappointing, we needed a break. We kept at it, just not too serious about it all. My mother moved in with us, then we moved to a new place, My mom got real sick and passed in mid May. Shortly after that my husband and I had a serious talk about TTC when I asked him how he would feel if our near 4 year old would be enough, should we never get pregnant again. He took that to mean I didn't want more, or that I wanted to stop trying alltogether. Not true, I just didn't want him to feel like we had failed should we not be able to concieve again. So we decided to give it the full gusto for 6 months and if still no luck, we'd see from there. I am 35, my husband is 33, we have a 3 year old daughter who is just about to turn 4 (or 14, by her independence :). I have PCOS and my husband has thick semen that impedes his swimmers. So we decided, well I was cajoled into this, but agreed, to try the real egg whites method. Since my body doesn't always make the right kind of fluid and his swimmers need help. I'm not sure if we did it correctly but in the beginning of my fertile time, we used pre-seed, at the high fertile time, we used fresh egg white, he deposited into the egg whites and then we inserted it via a glass baster. That's right I am a human petrie dish. Trying this method put my head into a not great place. I understand why we are trying this. 3 years is a long time of charting, ovulation tests, bottles of pre-seed, the depression that comes with repeated BFN's, frustration and false hope. Worse is the placating advice from family and friends, but I am still rather ooged out by this method, I feel disconnected, as I am sure a great many women feel when they are doing IUI's and such. I'm not sure if it'll work this first time as we think we used too much egg white. We certainly will know better for next month. We are currently in the 2 week wait, as of last night. I feel better knowing I have an outlet for myself and a place to commiserate with others. All that said, I wish you all great luck and sticky beans, and to those blessed with their BFP's I say congratulations!!

I'm resisting the urge to pee on a stick .....
My husband and I agreed to take a couple months off actively TRYING, but we had a lot of fun around ovulation time. I've had a lot "ovarian" type pain and it's really weird that my boobs aren't hurting yet! I usually get really sore boobs at least a week before my period. I really, really, really want a baby, but at the same time I kind of want to wait, because I've lost 20 lbs now and I'm feeling pretty good ... but I'd like to get 20 more off so I'm really healthy while pregnant.
I was also wondering if any of you ladies are experiencing difficulty with conception after a traumatic first birth? I was wondering if that could play a part in it? I was 22 when I had my daughter (I'm now 31) and it was a great pregnancy up until about week 26. I then started retaining so much water that I gained 30 lbs literally overnight. I had a horrible OB that didn't check my urine at every visit (if he had, he would have seen that I was going eclamptic). And I ended up passing out into a huge seizure from my blood pressure skyrocketing to 250/200 on exactly the beginning of week 29. My daughter was born several hours later via very emergency c-section weighing 1 lb 13 oz. The good lord blessed me with a very healthy child -- due to my body being in so much distress, her vital organs were very developed. But I'm wondering if that whole trauma is effecting my ability to get pregnant again. Anyone have any thoughts/experiences with that?

Still no ovulation. Hoping that it happens sometime this week. I'm already on 150mg of Clomid and was really hoping to avoid going up another dosage! Anyways, if I finally ovulate, I'll be testing around 7/4 instead of 6/28.

Hi Ladies,
I haven't posted in a while. I have been TTC since August 2010, and nothing. I have been seeing a fertility specialist for the past few months and have found nothing wrong. I had an HSG, all my bloodwork is fine, DH's semenalisys was fine and I am ovulating fine with normal regular cycles. But I am now on cycle 23 and starting to get really frustrated.
We timed BD perfectly this month, so hoping for a BFP on June 26.
If not I will be starting Clomid next month for a few months to see if that will help.
Congrats to you who got BFPs this month and sending loads of sticky baby dust to everyone waiting to test.
