Eating Raw Cookie Dough
Is it safe to eat raw cookie dough?Raw cookie dough made with raw eggs should not be consumed. Raw eggs are potentially hazardous because they can serve as sources of harmful bacteria, including Salmonella, which can cause serious illness.
However, cookie dough that is made safely with pasteurized eggs or pasteurized liquid egg products can be consumed raw safely. Many commercially available cookie dough products are made with these ingredients.

Wash the egg shell and you are good. I have heard it's the chicken poop that carries salmonela. Wash the egg shells before cracking the egg.
I wash mine..and the other day my toddler got in the trash (because it's fun!) and pulled out an egg shell and was crunching it (GAG)...he's still whole and healthy today. NOT that I recommend letting them eat from the trash let alone egg shells. With an almost two year old it is what happens when you take a second to go use the bathroom.
