Sex and Labor

Can having sex make me go into labor?

In fact, sexual intercourse at term may help bring on the onset of labor. Part of what makes that happen are the prostaglandins in semen. The prostaglanids hit the cervix, which sends a message to the brain to release oxytocin. Oxytocin tells the uterus it's time to contract.

If you have sex during this time in pregnancy and either bleeding ensues (not just spotting) or the contractions increase in intensity and become stronger after sexual activity has ceased, you should call your doctor for advice.

well it can happen at anytime. one of my coworkers had sex with he husband and went into labor at 6 months. but if ur closer to ur due date then u have a higher chance of goin into labor. i did it when i was over due with my son. worked like a charm but now im scared this time around cuz ive heard stories about people miscarrying because of sex.
