Telling Your Boss You're Pregnant

How do I give my boss the news that I'm pregnant?

The best way to tell your boss you're pregnant is in a straightforward way. This is not the time for cute announcements. You want to be sure to tell your boss before you tell your other co-workers; this is definitely not something you want him or her to hear through the grapevine! Some women feel they are inconveniencing their boss or company by having a baby. Remind yourself that you have nothing to apologize for and don't act as if you do.

Most women prefer to wait until the second trimester to talk to their boss. Tell your boss your due date and if you plan to return to work after the baby, make sure you mention that.

vbidez06 Send a Note Send a Gift Write on ME page 8/26/2009 - 11:02AM Report Abuse	To everyone asking questions, legally you cannot be fired for being pregnant or taking maternity leave unless you are with a company of less than 15 employees. Even then, it would be an iffy subject and one an employer is likely to avoid. However, make sure you are on top of your work and give no other reasons for dismissal. Tell them after the 12 week mark but not long after, and don't "apologize" for it!!

This is not a big office so there is just 2 staff and the doctor and my co-worker is already pregnant, she is 7 months, i'm barely 6 weeks along!! My only concern is when I tell them I'm pregnant. My dad thinks I should wait until the 90 day probationary period is over, which will put me at 5 months....thoughts??
