Things to Do When You're In Labor

If patience isn't your strength, you may need some help surviving umpteen hours of pregnancy labor. Pack some diversions in your hospital bag: playing cards, a Game Boy or month's worth of gossip mags. You'll be grateful for the distraction from the boredom...and the pain.

yeah i feel ya brittany that does kind of seem weird. but then i did sit around and make everyone laugh because i was apparently saying hilarious things and not making sense from all the drugs they were pumping into me. it might be a good idea to bring something we like just in case and hopefully we dont need it because i just want to get it done and over with.

Yeah... i can't imagine sitting there playing card games without throwing them in the floor when my husband asks me if it hurts. This seems alittle unreal.

Ok, so I have given birth the natural way and with an epidural. If you get an epidural, we had a funny joke book we read, I had books etc. If you are not getting the epidural... all I have to say is there is no such thing as passing time... it hurts like hell!:) When it comes time to push I really focused on that because it felt GREAT to push:)

I have no idea how I'm going to distract myself...there not letting me have anything un-necessary in the room! I'm pretty sure a DS is a necessity though...if they don't want to hear me bitching lol

I don't know about the rest of you - but I could not concentrate on ANYTHING during labour with my first baby. Labor lasted 36 hours....I guess the diff is if you are able to get comfortable with an epidural - mine didn't work. :(
