Sleep Comfortably During Pregnancy

Not ready to give up stomach sleeping? Start "nesting" early by creating a pillow nest for your growing bump. An extra pillow under your hips/thighs and another under your breasts creates a hole for your belly to hang in without being squished. You'll take up more space, but that's something you (and he) might as well get used to now.

My husband and I got so sick of all the extra pillows, so I rented a cushion from mommytummytime.com. It was way better than the pillows because i could lay on my side and stomach, without taking up 3/4 of the bed- plus I could ship it back when i was done. Loved it!!

To answer Noverhu, yes I have been dreaming a great deal more also. Maybe some hormone in pregnancy triggers this. But that is okay I think because dreaming indicates REM which is the deep part of sleep if I am correct. Also to Serenityfe, just some friendly advice, do not sleep on you back, my nurese practioner and the hospital OB/GYn tech told me that sleeping on your back shuts off the oxygen to you and you baby at night, it's not a good thing to do. I sometimes forget about my back and lay on it and my husband will come and turn me on my side. If you have someone in the house with you ask them to help you keep this straight so that you don't make that mistake. Good luck to all of us!!

I have one of those realy soft beanie travel pillows that I sleep tucked into my tummy I fine this helps because its soft on my skin and moulds into your shape. Im moving around alot and waking up early but the sleep I do get is enough, or i'll just go for a nap in the afternoon lol.

Im 36 weeks, the baby has dropped and now Im not getting heartburn but I still cant sleep for more than a few hours at a time. Everything Ive been reading says its normal. Get too hot then get cold then notice your partner is snoring and in the middle of the bed so you feel like your beach ball belly will tip you off the side. I have to change positions from sitting up to laying on my side to get at least 4-6 hours during the night. As far as the heartburn I would start out the night with pillows propped behind my back & head to sleep in a sit up position...or if you are lucky enough to have a reclining chair that will work too. You may only get a few hours extra sleep but sometimes that makes all the difference between being able to function during the day & being a crying mess.

i think that the more relaxed you are the easier it is to sleep, if you tense it makes all the difference

I'm in my third trimester and finding it more difficult every night to fall alseep or to even stay asleep for a full night. I bought a Snoogle Pillow a few weeks ago and it's definately more comfortable than piling pillows all around me. My husband has resorted to sleeping on the couch, because I toss and turn all night, and I also get hot...and then cold, so I'm always flipping the blankets around. I'm thinking tonight I'll have a nice glass of warm milk or hot chocolate and see if that helps any. Now that warmer weather is almost here, cracking the window open a bit at night will surely help with a decent night's rest!! Here's hoping for more than afew hours sleep at a time! ;-)

I've resorted to sleep ing on the couch....I smoosh my back against the back of couch, I'm propped up on the arm a bit, and I have my preggy boppy pillow tucked under my belly. Gives my support everywhere I need it and helps with the heartburn as well. If I sleep in bed, I'm up at 430am!

I'm having a hard time sleeping. Here lately i stay up reading until my eyes can no longer stay open. I get about 5 or 6 hours a night by doing that.

I've tried everything....and still nothing works. I finally get sleep after knocking out from being so exhausted after 3 or 4 days with no sleep.
