Find Friends in Lamaze Class

Those women you're huffing and puffing next to in Lamaze class could turn out to be your new best friends, so stay in touch with them. When you're on the other side of childbirth and you've been up all night with a crying baby, no one's going to know exactly how you feel more than someone going through the same thing. Plus, you'll have an instant playgroup should you ever feel ready to face the world again. (You will, we promise, you will.)

It's true - When I had my first, I met lots of other first time mums in my area, all due around the same time. We kept in contact firstly through the various exercises classes offered at the hospital, then through a Child & Youth Health parenting class for first time mums. From this group we set up a formal playgroup, and the core group has remained close for a couple of years now. From our original 12 members, we now have 8 (!!!) who are pregnant with, or have already had, their second child, so it's been great to have the support of friends (who understand completely) through another pregnancy.
