Avoid Buying Unnecessary Baby Gear

Do you lose all sense of reality upon entering a baby superstore? (Seriously, you do know you don't need 19 receiving blankets and four diaper pails, right?) Avoid getting revved up into a buying frenzy when shopping for baby gear by bringing backup: the reinforcement of a trusted mommy friend who knows what you really need for your new baby.

Yes, Jemmarriot.  This was a pointless link.  Thanks for wasting my time, ParentsConnect.com!

Does anyone else think that this article is absolutely pointless, I was hoping for a list of what might be considered accessories.  And all you get is a paragraph stating the obvious: to bring along someone who knows what you will need.  What is the point of consulting this website.  It is so juvenile in its weekly updates, like it is directed towards teens and readers of chic lit.  I would like to see some well educated information on here.

This is our 1st and the only baby items we have taken into the home thus far (at 19 weeks) have either been given to us, or we picked up at a garage sale for a good deal. I think we've spent a total of $30. AFTER the showers, if I still need anything, THEN I'll buy it. My friends/co-workers/neighbors have been eagerly waiting to find out the gender so they know which clothes they has pass on to me.

i have a total shopping addiction and i wish i could buy EVERYTHING lol..but my hubby keeps me in check and we've only bought the essentials..a crib, bedset, 2 dressers, breastpump, and our baby's first outfit :) thankfully we had 2 amazing baby showers and have received everything else in between. and we've also gotten TONS of baby clothes from our friends' children so our babe will never go nakey!

I've limited myself to one small purchase every week, one new outfit or nursery accesory, and that way I get to fuss about exactly which one I get in the store which help me feel good about it. We haven't spent much on baby stuff so far (I'm in my 31st week now) except for a few pieces of furnature we picked up. We still need a fewlast little pieces like crib sheets and hooded towels, but yeah, that's what baby showers are for.

I have two beautiful teenage daughters and I'm pregnant with my third child, another little girl. This will be a first for my husband and I constantly have to remind him not to overbuy but he's just so excited!! I keep saying we need to stock up on diapers ;-)

If you feel like you HAVE to buy something, just buy a thing of diapers. It is the one thing that you will not run out of and will never get enough of at your showers.

wait as long as you can to start buying stuff, chances are you will stick to buying what you need and not too much impulse stuff.
